
BOURQUE, Jeanette Marie – 92, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2011 in the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Sluice Point, Yarmouth Co. on December 30, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Melbourne A. Bourque and Bertha Emma (Babin) Bourque at the age of twenty; she left her home village for Montreal where she worked for the telephone company for many years. She later moved to Halifax and was employed by the Crane Company until her retirement. She is survived by sisters Rachael Cottreau (Yarmouth), Zita Chapman (Halifax), Rolanda Hanga (Halifax), Viola (John) O’Connor (Halifax) and brother Bruno (Juliette) Bourque (Sluice Point). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was a member of St. Theresa’s and had an unwavering devotion to her faith all her life. This deep faith was a great source of strength during her struggle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. John Graham and Dr. Carman Giacomantonio, the staff and care givers at the VG unit 4B, who cared for her with such dignity, as well as her very kind neighbour Nancy Tough.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 16th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa’s church. Father Roberto Donato officiating.
