GOOD MORNING EVERYONE 

A BEST FRIEND IS SOMEONE WHO COMES INTO YOUR LIFE AS A GIFT. AND MAY SHOW UP IN THE ODDEST OF PLACES.

FOR ME THAT DAY WAS AT A DOG TRIAL MANY YEARS AGO.

JEANNETTE IN FULL HUNTING GEAR RUNNING A DOG AND LOOKING VERY IMPRESSIVE.

THEN THERE WAS ME !! IN SHORTS AND SANDALS WATCHING FROM THE SIDE LINES.

WHO KNEW THAT DAY WOULD BE THE BEGINNING OF A WONDERFUL FRIENDSHIP.

OUTSIDE THE DOG CLUB , HUNTING , AND RAISING PUPPIES I GOT TO KNOW THE GENTLE LOVING PERSON THAT WOULD DO  ANYTHING FOR ANYONE.

WE SHARED MANY CONVERSATIONS ONLY BEST FRIENDS SHARE AND AS TIME PASSED WE BOTH KNEW WE WOULD HAVE TO STAY CLOSE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE KNEW TO MUCH ABOUT EACH OTHER.

 I HAVE TO CONFESS GIL AND GERARD DID MAKE THE TOP OF OUR CONVERSATIONS ONCE AND AWHILE.

GIL , JEANNETTE SAID YOU WERE THE LOVE OF HER LIFE AND THAT SHE WAS TRULY BLESSED TO HAVE YOU AS HER HUSBAND.

JEANNETTE LOVED LIFE AND EVERYTHING IT HAD TO OFFER, FROM FINE CHINA TO NEW CLASSY HUNTING BOOTS FOR DOG TRIALS OR JUST WALKING THE FIELDS WITH GIL.

WE BOTH LOVED OUR GARDENS WHICH PUT A SMILE ON OUR FACES EACH SPRING.

I HAVE A VERSE HANGING AT HOME WHICH JEANNETTE LOVED AND I WOULD LIKE TO READ IT TO YOU.

WILDFLOWERS GROW WERE THEY WILL.
AND SHOW UP YEAR AFTER YEAR LIKE A FOREVER FRIEND.

DEBBIE AND I ARE HONORED TO SPEAK TO YOU TODAY OF OUR LONG FRIENDSHIP WITH JEANNETTE AND HER LOVE OF LIFE.

WE FIRST MET JEANNETTE AND GIL 35 YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS A YOUNG NEW MEMBER OF THE SCOTIA SPRINGER CLUB.

AT THIS TIME GIL AND JEANNETTE WERE ALREADY SEASONED MEMBERS OF THE CLUB.

JEANNETTE WAS EMPLOYED AT CHEBUCTO AND MATHESON ENGINNERING WHERE SHE WORKED FOR 17 YEARS AS AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.

IN 1989 JEANNETTE WAS PROUD TO HAVE OPENED HER OWN BUISNESS,ANMAR BUISNESS CENTER AND JEANNETTE OPERATED IT 
SUCCESSFULLY FOR 10 YEARS.

JEANNETTE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE OPERATION OF THE DOG CLUB AND ALSO CORESPONDING ON A REGULAR BASIS WITH 
THE CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB.

IT WAS A SMALL WORLD INDEED WHEN I REALIZED THAT JEANNETTE'S FAMILY GREW UP RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM 
WHERE I LIVED AND HER FAMILY ATTENDED THE SAME CHURCH IN NORTH END HALIFAX.

JEANNETTE'S EARLIER INTERESTS WHERE HER PRIZED ABBA-SINIAN CATS AND HER JUDGING ASSIGNMENTS AT CAT SHOWS THROUGH-OUT CANADA.

JEANNETTE LOVED THE OUTDOORS. SHE LOVED GARDENING AND SPENDING TIME WITH HER BELOVED SPRINGER SPANIELS AND LATER HER GOLDEN RETRIEVERS. JEANNETTE ENJOYED WATCHING ALL THE PARTICIPANTS AT FIELD TRIALS AND TRAINING SESSIONS,ESPECIALLY 
HER FUTURE HUSBAND GIL WHEN HE CAME TO THE LINE.

JEANNETTE EVEN RAN SOME OF HER YOUNGER DOGS IN PUPPY OR LIMIT TRIALS.

JEANNETTE WAS ALWAYS DRESSED IN THE FINEST OF FIELD WEAR AND COULD ALWAYS BE SEEN WITH HER RED HAIR MAKING HER WAY THROUGH THE TRIAL SITE AND WOULD QUITE OFTEN MARSHAL THE EVENTS TO KEEP THE SPECTATORS BACK A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE LINE. 
JEANNETTE WOULD DO THIS IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER.

DURING THESE TRIALS AND TRAINING SESSIONS I ALWAYS NOTICED WHEN IT CAME TIME FOR A LUNCH BREAK, NOBODY,
I MEAN NOBODY HAD THE QUALITY OF FOOD THAT JEANNETTE AND GIL ALWAYS HAD IN THEIR VAN.

THERE WERE COOLERS FILLED WITH WHAT I THOUGHT  WAS NOTHING SHORT OF GOURMET FOOD. THE CHEESES , CRACKERS , LUNCHEON MEATS, AND BREADS ALONG WITH ANOTHER COOLER FULL OF ASSORTED COLD DRINKS AND ESPECIALLY THE SPECIAL COFFEE WHICH ALWAYS 
HAD A FINE WHISKEY ADDED.

KIND OF MADE MY TUNA OR COLD CUT SANDWICH AND A CAN OF COKE LOOK PRETTY BAD. SORRY HON.

AT HOME  JEANNETTE  ENJOYED WATCHING AND FEEDING THE MANY BIRDS THAT WOULD COME TO HER FEEDERS. WHEN ASKED A QUESTION ABOUT A CERTAIN BIRD JEANNETTE COULD ALWAYS NAME THE TYPE AND WHAT IT'S FAVORITE TYPE OF SEED WAS OR WHERE THEY NESTED. 
SHE ESPECIALLY LOVED THE CARDINALS SHE WOULD LATER FEED IN ONTARIO.

DEBBIE AND I SOON BECAME VERY GOOD FRIENDS WITH GIL AND JEANNETTE AND A SHORT WHILE LATER ATTENDED THEIR BEAUTIFUL 
WEDDING AT THEIR HOME ON LEWIS LAKE.

SOON AFTER THAT WE STARTED ENJOYING ONE ANOTHER'S COMPANY AT SUPPERS IN EACH OTHERS HOMES.

ON THAT NOTE I NOW HAVE TO TALK ABOUT FOOD BECAUSE WHAT WAS ALWAYS PRESENT AT FIELD TRIALS GOT EVEN BETTER AT DINNER.

MANY A SATURDAY NIGHT WAS ENJOYED AT THE DINING ROOM TABLE AT GIL AND JEANNETTES HOME.

JEANNETTE ALWAYS PREPARED A DINNER THAT YOU JUST COULDN'T GET AT ANY OF THE FINEST RESTAURANTS IN METRO. THE SETTINGS AT THE TABLE,THE WINE , DESERTS WERE NOTHING SHORT OF INCREDIBLE.

JEANNETTE DID A LEG OF LAMB THAT SOON BECAME OUR FAVORITE MEAL. HER PHEASANT POT PIE WAS ANOTHER SPECIALTY,
 IN FACT JEANNETTE COULD MAKE ANY GAME DINNER OR SEAFOOD DISH IN SO MANY WAYS IT WOULD ALWAYS LEAVE YOU WANTING MORE.

THERE IS ONE OTHER ITEM I HAVE TO MENTION THAT I HAD NEVER EATEN BEFORE BUT I SOON CAME TO LOVE AND THAT WAS 
JEANNETTES SCOTCH EGGS. 

ON OCCASIONS WHEN JIMMY AND ANN WERE PRESENT , JIMMY AND I PRETTY MUCH TOOK OVER THE EGG DEPARTMENT AND
 IF GIVEN THE CHANCE I'M SURE BETWEEN THE TWO OF US WE WOULD HAVE OR MAYBE I SHOULD SAY WE DID, EAT AS MANY AS POSSIBLE.

REST ASSURED THERE WAS A MEAN DENT PUT ON A PLATE OF EGGS BY THE TWO OF US.

JEANNETTE WOULD ALWAYS SAY “ COME ON GUYS,LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS “ !!!

JEANNETTE WAS THRILLED WHEN HER KITCHEN WAS RENOVATED AND ALONG WITH ALL THE NEW CUPBOARDS SHE PURCHASED NEW
 APPLIANCES ONE OF WHICH WAS A JENN-AIR STOVE. THIS WAS LIKE A NEW TOY TO JEANNETTE AND MANY A FINE STRIP LOIN AND
 LAMB CHOP WAS COOKED ON HER JENN-AIR OVER THE WINTER MONTHS.

JEANNETTE ALWAYS FOUND TIME TO MAKE PICKLES AS WELL AND AGAIN HER MUSTARD PICKLES WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD.

SHE ALWAYS SUPPLIED US WITH MANY JARS WHICH NEVER LASTED LONG IN THE COOKE HOUSEHOLD. EVEN OUR DAUGHTER
 ALLISON WHEN SHE CAME HOME WOULD SAY THAT THESE ARE THE BEST MUSTARD PICKLES SHE HAS EVER EATEN.

JEANNETTE LOVED TO ENTERTAIN AND MANY HOURS WERE SPENT AT THE DINING ROOM TABLE TALKING OVER A LARGE BRANDY 
ABOUT FAMILY,DOGS AND HER MANY COLLECTIONS OF SPECIALLY LOVED ITEMS SHE HAD COLLECTED.

THERE WAS ALWAYS A JOKE BETWEEN US ABOUT  WHOSE TURN IT WAS TO HOST DINNER. WE WOULD ALWAYS LEAVE WITH 
THE COMMENT “IT'S OUR TURN NEXT “ BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT I WAS ALWAYS THRILLED WHEN THEIR TURN CAME AROUND AGAIN.

JEANNETTE LOVED HER PARENTS.

AND SON RANDY AND HIS WIFE ELAINE.

ALSO ALL HER NEICES, NEPHEWS AND GRANDCHILDREN.

JEANNETTE ALSO HAD A SPECIAL LOVE FOR GIL'S SON BRAD AND HIS WIFE ANN-ELISE.

JEANNETTE WAS NEVER AFRAID TO SPEAK WHAT WAS ON HER MIND AND ALWAYS WANTED WHAT SHE FELT WAS BEST FOR EVERYONE.

JEANNETE TRULY WAS A FIERY RED HEAD!!! BUT UNDER THAT MASK WAS A CARING , LOVING , WIFE AND MOTHER WHO WOULD
 DO PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING ASKED OF HER FOR A FAMILY MEMBER OR A FRIEND.

THERE WAS A NINE YEAR PERIOD WHERE GIL'S WORK TOOK HIM AND JEANNETTE TO ONTARIO AND MANY MORE NEW FRIENDS
 AND ADVENTURES BEGAN.

AGAIN ACTIVE IN THE SPANIEL CLUBS  AND ENJOYING HER LARGE GARDEN SHE STARTED WORKING FOR THE ONTARIO
 LIQUOR COMMISSION AND ATTENDED MANY COURSES TO BECAME QUITE THE EXPERT ON THE MANY WINES THAT WERE AVAILABLE. 

DEBBIE AND I KEPT IN TOUCH OVER THE YEARS AND VISITED GIL AND JEANNETTE  AT THEIR BEAUTIFUL HOME IN ONTARIO.

THERE WERE MANY HOURS OF PHONE CALLS AND THE ONE THING THAT REMAINED CONSTANT WAS THE FACT THAT JEANNETTE 
ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO RETURNING TO NOVA SCOTIA AND TO BE WITH AND NEAR HER BELOVED FAMILY AND FRIENDS 
WHOM SHE DEARLY MISSED.

IN 2009 GIL RETIRED AND THE DECISION WAS MADE TO COME HOME.

.
EVENTUALLY THE DECISION WAS MADE TO PURCHASE A HOME IN SUMMERVILLE  THAT HAD BEEN FOUND BY JEANNETTE'S
 LATE SISTER JOANNE AND HER HUSBAND DAVID.

SADLY HER TIME BACK HOME WAS SHORT WHEN SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE FOUR CANCER IN MAY OF 2010.

JEANNETTE WAS A FIGHTER AND A VERY STRONG WILLED PERSON AND SHE WAS DETERMINED TO FIGHT THE DISEASE.

SHE KEPT UP WITH THE FIELD TRIALS AND SOON WE WERE AGAIN ENJOYING THE COMPANY OF GIL AND JEANNETTE.

JEANNETTE WAS SO PROUD AND HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND BRAD'S MARRIAGE TO ANN-ELISE AND LATER ON HER SON RANDY'S
 MARRIAGE TO ELAINE.

JEANNETTE ALSO ENJOYED A ROAD TRIP TO PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND AND NEW BRUNSWICK WITH GIL. THAT SMALL
 TRIP MEANT SO MUCH TO HER.

DEBBIE AND I WERE BLESSED TO HAVE JEANNETTE IN OUR LIVES AND WILL TRULY MISS, OUR LONG TALKS ABOUT FAMILY 
AND ALL THE OTHER IMPORTANT PARTS OF LIFE  ALONG WITH THE SPECIAL FRIENDSHIP WE HAVE SHARED ALL THESE YEARS.

IN THE END JEANNETTE WAS COMFORTED BY HER FAITH IN GOD, AND WITH THAT DEBBIE AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY GOD
 BLESS YOU JEANNETTE. WE LOVE YOU.

Gil, i am very sad about Jeanette's passing.  We all knew it was coming, but it's always a blow when it happens.  I always remember how kind and generous you both were to the Ducks Unlimited cause at the Dartmouth Dinners. 
I also used to be happy to hear about your dogs, litters and training. You both seem to have so much shared life that made others around you happy too.  
Jeanette was a kind, loving, lady who wasn't afraid of any challenge.  We're goin to miss her good cheer, great attitude and especially her kindness.

It's Kimmie.  I didn't think I was ready to look at this and read any notes, but a friend of mine going back to elementary school just called and with her guidance I had confidence to look.  

To all those that knew Mom, well you knew mom and there is nothing to add to that.  In response to an email I received myself - it was expressed that my mom must have had some beautiful qualities because they were the example for me that I have shown.  Among them is my strength.  

That strentgh, or my word is stubborness, will help me through these times.  

Mark and Mandi have grown into wonderful adults, that I know mom is proud of, and I can't wait for the time when I can start to tell their children about their great-grandmother

Jeanette, thank you for being one of my mother's best friends. Thank you for your kindness and the puppies...so many special puppies have come into the world because of you! Thank you for having "extra little girl things" for me to play with when I tagged along during visits to your house with Mum and Dad. I have such fond memories of you...your laughter, and the icebox cookies you made "just for me". 
Gil, I am thinking of you and have you in my prayers. Her Spirit is and always will be shining bright over you and all of her friends and family that she loved so much.

Hello Gil and family

So sorry to hear of the passing of Jeannette. I know that seeing a loved one go through a battle with cancer and the helpless feeling that there is little you can do but be there with them is a difficult thing to go through. Our sincere condolences to you and your family as you go through this terrible loss. We really must believe  that she is now moved on to a better place, and realize that only time can really heal the great loss you must be feeling.

    We will remember Jeannette for many things: her devotion to the dogs,  her love of Nova Scotia,  her wonderful cookies, her willingness to volunteer for any job that needed to be done.....Does the Club need a Secretary? Someone to raise money? Organize lunches?  Shag? Marshal? She did it all.  In the days when we had banquets at our homes, she was always the first to roll up her sleeves and get her hands in the dishpan - a fact noticed and appreciated, at least by the women!

     May the support and understanding of your many friends be a comfort in the days ahead.

Being the baby brother of all 5 kids, I have always been blessed to have 2 extra moms and dads looking over my growth as an adolescent. When I became a father and grandfather,  that mentoring didn't fade away but became the sibling adoration that sometimes is never written and seldom said! 
I came to know my sister as a wonderful caring and stubborn woman, (that is not a flaw), it was her determination that is with all of us in our family.
 The unfortunate part of losing both my sisters this week, is that I lost two wonderful guiding women for my grandchildren! My wife -Debbie and I want to wish all of my loving caring family there our sincere and tear eyed prayers and hugs -I know that Jeanette is having fun with our sister Jo Anne and other relaitives in heaven and the tears our ours not theirs. They are in paradise smiling! Love Jeff & Debbie
