Dear Derek:
I was sorry to read of your mother's death in the paper this morning, but glad to read that you were by her side. It is always the end of an era in our lives when we lose parents. I hope you are sustained over the coming months by fond memories of your times together, and by the love and support of your family. (I can attest that she was very proud of your musical and academic achievements in high school.)
Please accept my condolences at this difficult time in your life.
Sincerely,
David

How well I remember the sparkle in Joannes eyes when she would come visit and stay for tea! She was a great story teller as well!!
(We were neighbors to her daughter Kelly and family, back in the day.)
She would come over the road to my yard and check out my garden and chat!
You dear family are in our thoughts and prayers!
