

Slaunwhite, Joseph “Joe” Martin-69 of Lower Prospect passed away peacefully on June 27, 2010 with his family at his side. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Joseph Clyde and Edna (Drew) Slaunwhite. Joe was a beloved husband, father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Joe was employed as a truck driver and mechanic with Maritime Moving and Storage for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking in his younger years. He loved to watch baseball, boxing and Jeopardy with Mom. He always tried to answer first. Joe loved his family and grandchildren dearly. His blue eyes sparkled with every smile.
Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn “Cook” (Blackburn), his children Sherry (Brad) Little and Terri (Greg) Tucker of Whites Lake, Krista and Craig, both at home, two loving granddaughters, Courtney Little and Morgan Tucker, two sisters Pat Avery and Lila Jollimore and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers William, and Jerome; and his nephew, Leo.
Visitation will be held at J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on July 2, 2010 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm with a prayer service to follow at 1:30 pm with Father Dariusz (Darek) Misiolek.
A celebration of Joe’s life will follow at the Terence Bay Fire Hall.
Donations may be made to the Lung Association of NS, The Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
Joe will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
