

Born in London, England, he was a son of Eileen and George Wicks.
John was an avid reader of factual books. He was passionate about roses in England and Canada and people would stop to admire them. Also he was an animal lover and a generous man. John had a special wheelchair made for a badly disabled little girl.
John was a member of the Royal British Legion and The Royal Canadian Legion in Greenfield Park, Quebec. He did his conscription in The Royal Navy where he served 4 years. He also worked for Pratt & Whitney from 1978-1994 when he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; son George, two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his daughter, Susan; sister, Jean and brother, George.
The staff of Butterfly Cottage were compassionate, kind, tolerant, understanding and so loving they made the end of John’s life so comfortable and I thank each of you so much.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4 at 2:00 pm at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, with Reverend Carson Baxter officiating.
