Joseph Kevin Bowers

Bowers, Joseph Kevin “Joey” - 51 Halifax passed away October 27, 2010 at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Ethel Bowers and Lorraine “Rainie” Raftus. Joey was a stay at home dad as his children grew up, he then later focused on his career as an A+ Computer Technician and then more recently as a Non Destructive Technician. He loved a good game of golf or darts. He was a great cook, especially on the BBQ. Joey enjoyed working with new technology. He was like a father to the neighborhood children. He loved to take his kids on fishing trips. Joey is survived by His wife, Valerie (Marshall) Bowers; daughter, Megan Bowers of Chapel Island, sons Zackary and Morgan of Halifax and stepson, Christian Marshall of Chapel Island; sisters Rose Marie “Sissy” (David) Kelly, Danna Godsoe, Deborah (Scott) Bowers, Bonita (Al) Waverock, Eileen Beaver, brothers Ward “Burt” Bowers, Cecil (Sharon) Bowers and Kevin (Maureen) Bowers; and his best friend Ray Perry. He was predeceased by brother, Charles Booth Bowers and daughter-in-law, Mellissa Googoo Marshall. Visitation will be held 6 – 8 PM Sunday, October 31 and then funeral service 2 PM Monday, November 1st all from J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Cremation will follow. Visitation will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the family home 12134 Highway 4, Chapel Island. Donations in memory of Joey can be made to a charity of your choice.
