1931 - 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Joyce Anderson.
Joyce passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 18, 2022
She was predeceased by her much loved husband Stewart M Anderson.
Joyce is survived by her son Stewart and son-in-law Ramon Zaragoza, her daughter Ruth and son-in-law Neal Megannety, her grandchildren Michèle , Danielle (Mike) and Patrick, Sister in Law Helen, and nephews and nieces Bruce (Kim) Kathy (Gerald) Glenn (Lynn) Gordie (Andrea) and Jane (Ed) and their children.
Joyce was a light for so many, her laugh was contagious, and her energy and love for life unstoppable. Joyce was kind, wise, and always there for those who needed her. To her cherished grandkids she was Grems, loved for so much more than her famous mac’n cheese.
She was competitive, strong, and determined - from baking a great pie, to lawn bowling and bridge, to being ruthless at Crib, Joyce enjoyed a challenge and inspired us often with her skills and ability, as well as her strength, dignity and fighting spirit over the last year.
A special thanks go out to Jo-Ann and Lynn for all the love, care and support they have given, especially in the last year.
Joyce cried when she first moved to Halifax from Ontario, but never, ever, thought of leaving her friends and family once she was settled here. As she said many times, this was her home!
You will be missed and our love for you will live on forever. You were a true blessing in all of our lives.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday June 3, 2023 in St. Matthews United Church (Barrington Street, Halifax) at 10:30am. Memorial gifts to St Matthews United Church Out Reach Programmes in Joyce’s name are welcomed to continue the important and good work she was so devoted to.
