Joyce Lorraine Williams

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Williams. Born in Halifax, Joyce was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Isabel Florence (Fitzgerald) and the loving wife of the late Bernard Ray Williams. She is survived by her sister Lillian May Appleby (Don) as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Isabel Gertrude Dehmel (Ted) and her three brothers: John (Jack) Richard (Hazel); William (Bill) Fitzgerald (Helen); Ronald Victor (Joan). Joyce was a kind, loving and warm person to everyone she met. She loved socializing, having fun, making people smile and appreciated life in all circumstances. Joyce loved her family and gave herself generously to them. Joyce was recognized as a leader among her peers and was chosen as valedictorian of her class. Joyce was an employee of the Halifax Public Library for many years. She volunteered in palliative care at Dartmouth General Hospital and also volunteered at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Halifax. As a life long devoted member of St. Mark's Anglican Church in Halifax, she participated in many activities and groups. She was a member of the choir, Mother's Union, Jubbilate Concert Committee, and a lay reader. Joyce travelled extensively with her husband Bernie and sometimes with friends, to many parts of the world and happily spent over 25 years wintering in Florida. The family would like to thank the staff of Saint Vincent's Nursing Home for their care of Joyce during the last 5 years of her life. Joyce will be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at St. Mark's Anglican Church, Halifax. Due to COVID protocols, masks are required and seating is limited. Please RSVP at [email protected] or call 902-454-0207. Interment to follow April 29 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church Cemetery, Dutch Settlement. Donations and flowers may be sent to St. Mark's Anglican Church.
