

Judith "Judy" Anne MacDonald Young loved life, family, friends, children, dogs, the colour purple, telling captivating stories, and much else besides. After a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, at the age of 81, Judy passed away on June 26, 2021, in Saint Margaret's Residential Centre in Westmount, a suburb of Montreal, where she was cared for with much compassion by the staff and a bevy of caregivers.
Predeceased by her father Gus, her mother, Dorothy "Dot"; her brother, Ron; and her first husband, Don Young. Survived by her loving husband, Lorne Walsh, and his siblings, Bryan (Ann), Diane and Kathy, his children, David (Hu Bin), Stephen (Wing San), Bryan (Miri); and his seven grandchildren; as well as Ron's widow Irene, and Don's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her as Gi Gi. Blessed with many cousins and many friends, including Gladys (Gary) of Chatham; Sharon of St. John's; David of Thornhill; Brien of Stratford; Channie of Halifax; Nonie of Cambridge; and Cathy of Hammonds Plains, who were among the many to comfort her during her illness. Lorne wishes to thank all Judy's caregivers, especially Doris, Dorothy, Pam, Camille and Fina, who lovingly helped Judy to smile and sing and laugh despite her hardships.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 16 at 11:00 am in Saint Mother Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Church, 6032 Normandy Dr, Halifax, NS.
Donations in memory of Judy may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Friends of Saint Margaret's (50 Hillside Ave., Westmount QC, H3Z 3E4).
