Born at Halifax on December 7, 1931, the daughter of the late David O. and Marian (Beck) Doherty of Prospect.
Survived by her children Linda (Michael) Smith, Greg (Kim) Coolen of Halifax, Elizabeth Fraser, Calgary and Marianne (Greg) Macpherson of Halifax. She is also survived by her sister Jovita Slaunwhite and brother Patrick Doherty. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Weldon J. Coolen, sister Louise Christian, sister-in-law Marsha Doherty and son-in-law Brent Fraser. She was Grannie to grandchildren, Nicola, Nathaniel (Jien), and Alexander Smith; Barry (Theresa Anne) and Jamie (Gary) Coolen; Adam (Emily), Andrew (Ashley) and David Fraser; and Matthew (Nicole) Macpherson and Katherine (Calvin) Hicks. Great-grandchildren Weldon, Georgia and Jacqueline Hicks; and Abigail and Zachary Coolen.
Kathleen worked at Sears Catalogue for many years retiring in 1986. Besides her family Kathleen’s life was dedicated to her faith. She was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Prospect. Her interests were in Prospect Village history and genealogy, and she was famous for her pies and strawberry jam.

A visitation for Kathleen will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A funeral liturgy will occur Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at J. A. Snow Funeral Home.
