At age 91, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Kay” of Hammonds Plains.

Kay grew up in Halifax and had family ties in New Glasgow. Born Feb. 26, 1928, she graduated from Miss Murphy Business College and started her career as a civilian clerk typist with HMC Dockyard. She was a long standing member of over 70 yrs. with the Independent Order of Forrester’s. Her love for crocheting, reading, bowling, camping and square dancing kept her young at heart.

We would like to thank the staff of White Hills for the loving care they gave our Mother.

Beloved wife for over 67 years to the late John F. McNair; loving mother to sons: John “Kevin” (Karen) New Zealand, David (June), Robert (Sharon); daughter Charlene (Peter) Chiasson all of Hammonds Plains. Eight grandchildren Marie (Leonard), John (Amanda), James (Sarah), Kathleen “Katie” (Craig), Joanne (Andrew), Robert “Bobby”, Alexandra and Antonia. She was blessed to have nine great-grandchildren Aiden, Lillian, Sebastien, Colby, Austin, Cameron, Jacob, Kaylee and Carleigh.

Funeral arrangements: J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Visitation Sunday Oct. 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 and Funeral service Monday Oct. 7 at 10:00 in Snow’s Chapel. Family flowers only.

Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The time I spent with your mother (when she took me in as a boarder)are some of the happiest moments I have!Kaye was always smiling,so cheerful and such a pleasure to be around.My meals and the great way she looked took care of everything for me meant the world to me.Those touched by her mere presence share your grief and Garth & I want to extend our sincere condolenses to the entire Mc Nair family.

Oh, that smile; it reminded me so much of the Mrs. McNair I remember. Growing up, I had spent a lot of time at Kevin's house. His mother was welcoming, cheerful and that smile conveyed a special kindness that will surely be missed within the family. Peace and comfort to each of you. While not now able to attend, I will be thinking of you and saying a prayer for Mrs. McNair.
