With the Celebration of Life today, there is also a celebration of her hospitality. The Dickson house was also a consistent welcoming home for a diverse range of visitors of all ages.  That spirit lives on through others who shared these experiences. That shared interest in the broader “family” and communities  is also something to be celebrated today, for it was part of her life, and the life she added to the Dickson family.   — Cameron Ells

We were so fortunate when we moved to Truro with a young family, and welcomed by our neighbours Kaye and Fred. Over the years our kids ran wild through their yard. Kaye always welcomed the chaos. She was a super lady and will be missed greatly!!

To the Dickson Family. Sorry to learn of Kaye's passing. I was acquainted with Kaye and her Sister Jean during School years in Glace Bay. I later became aware that we "shared"our MacDonald GGrandfather-separate GGrandmothers all from Beechmont.
My last contact with Kaye was shortly after Fred passed away.
I trust you have many happy memories that will shared over the years to come/

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Kaye.

Very fond memories of a delightful lady.  Walking in the side door of the house for a visit with Colin was always a welcoming moment, whether it was the first time or just another visit.  

Kaye introduced me to the Cape Breton quizzing of “What’s your mother do, what’s your father do”.  Funny how that memory comes back, but it’s there with me.  

She will be missed.

DEAR KATHRYN , COLIN AND IAN,
 I WAS VERY SADDENED TO READ OF KAYE’S PASSING IN THE NEWSPAPER.  I FIRST MET KAYE WHEN I WAS SINGLE AND LIVED IN THE SAME APARTMENT BUILDING AS SHE AND FRED.  WE CONNECTED IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE FOUND OUT WE HAD A CAPE BRETON CONNECTION IN THAT MY MOTHER WAS BORN IN GLACE BAY AND SO WAS KAYE.  WHEN WE WOULD MEET AT VARIOUS FUNCTIONS AND THROUGH FRIENDS OVER THE YEARS WE WOULD IMMEDIATELY START OFF EXACTLY WHERE WE LEFT OFF THE LAST TIME WE HAD SEEN EACH OTHER. 
WE WERE BUSY RAISING OUR FAMILIES AND WOULD CATCH UP ON THEM AND THEIR BUSY LIVES WHEN WE GOT TOGETHER ! KAYE HAD A WAY OF BEING SO WELCOMING AND MADE YOU FEEL SPECIAL.  I WOULD SEE HER WHEN I WAS VISITING IN CHESTER IN THE SUMMER.  SHE LOVED HER TIME AT THE COTTAGE AND ALWAYS SEEM SO HAPPY READING HER BOOKS AND JUST RELAXING.  SHE WAS A JOY TO BE WITH.  I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND HER CELEBRATION OF LIFE AND SEE YOU ALL BUT UNFORTUNATELY  I  WILL BE AWAY IN NEW BRUNSWICK ON MAY 9TH,   MY SINCERE SYMPATHY TO YOU AND YOUR  FAMILIES. Dear Dickson family,
We were saddened to learn of your dear mother’s passing. Your parents were friends and neighbours of my Mom and Dad, Ken and Yvonne Matthews.  And, my Dad and yours were legal and political colleagues. They spent many hours in my Dad’s study discussing the law and political strategy, of course over a tumbler of fine scotch, always neat. Your Dad and mine shared a great intellect and quick wit, riotous laughter could often be heard emanating from my Dad’s den. 
Your Mom was a lovely lady who will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Kaye’s passing . Memories go back to the summer days we watched our families  (children) have the times of their lives  and we enjoyed every moment of our own camaraderie— Kaye Lorraine Marilyn and myself —summers well spent .!

I’m am so very sorry for your loss. Aunt Kaye was a lovely, funny lady. She and Mom were quite a pair together, sisters and great friends. I always enjoyed our visits when I was in Truro, and have great memories of our conversations.
