With great sadness, the family of Kenneth Andrew Kilby announces his untimely but peaceful passing on Sunday January 7th, 2018 following a courageous battle with ALS.
Kenny was born in Halifax on February 16th, 1968. Kenny was as hard working and easy going as they come. A willing smile and gregarious nature that belied a deep concern for others. Kenny was a perfectionist who always measured once and cut once. He scored the prettiest goals, had the best golf swing and could cast a fly with pinpoint accuracy. Kenny was an avid sportsman, most comfortable surrounded by nature but his easy way, kind disposition and wicked sense of humour made him a pleasure to be around.
Kenny attended Halifax West High School and played rep hockey for the Centennial Hawks for many years. Many of the close friendships he made during that time have continued to this day. Later Kenny attended the Halifax Regional Vocational School and subsequently began a career as a carpenter. Eventually Kenny went into business as a contractor for Ultramar, where he worked for 15 years until his diagnosis in April 2017.
Kenny is survived by his beloved daughter, Kendra Mae, his parents Pat and Ken Sr, his brother Mark, sister-in-law Heather and nephews Drew and Kyle, all of Halifax.
Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Thursday, January 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held in Saint Benedict Parish, Friday, January 12 at 10:30 am. Reception to follow. Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Conrad, the staff of the Nova Scotia Rehab Centre – 8th floor and the ALS Society of NS. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society of NS or the SPCA would be appreciated.
