I was saddened to learn of Mr. Power's passing, which I discovered through Trent McLennan's online tribute. As a guidance counselor at Regina High-school, he provided me with valuable advice on course selection. Although I frequently saw him walking in Corner Brook during the past couple of years, his absence will be deeply felt.   RIP Mr. Power

You were a ray of sun shine during my time at Parkland Clayton Park, you where a kind, loving human, who I am so proud to have known.

Phonse will be remembered as part of the McDonald's coffee club with my Dad, Don Patey. They kept in touch through emails and Dad enjoyed the photos and news stories...

I’m so very sorry to hear this news. Mr. Power was such an inspirational teacher and guidance councillor.  He had an amazing way of connecting with his students, and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

I met Phonse with his Ipad some 12 years ago at Mc Donalds in Corner Brook.  At that time I had a toddler who loved early mornings and McDonalds  hot cakes and apples. I was and am still a teacher and we chatted with ease on many topics.

As the years have passed I have continually encountered Phonse and remember fondly his smile and easy comment on how fast my boys have grown. It is with sadness that I write this with the knowledge that I will no longer see him around town.  I want to send my condolences to his family and friends. Perhaps my story will help you see some of the light he spread in his lifetime.  I was just a stranger sharing an early morning but he remembered and I smiled often as a result of our acquaintance.

We were saddened to read today of Phonse’s passing.  I rented my first apartment from him in the late 70’s  He was also a colleague. He was a fine gentleman who was pleasant, kind and compassionate.  Always enjoyed our chats when we would cross paths while he walked or at Tim’s for coffee with his buddies. David , he was always so proud of you. May the wonderful memories you shared help you through this difficult time.

To his immediate famly, Kevin Alphonsus Power was a treasured father, grandfather, uncle and relative. To his friends and acquaintances, he was affectionately known as Phonse. For students who admired him through the years, he was always Mr. Power. For those who worked closely with him in schools, he was a man blessed with remarkable gifts as a teacher, administrator and guidance counsellor. In each of the roles that he undertook through the years, he displayed patience and compassion. In the simplest of terms, Phonse Power was respected and well-loved by students because he understood and genuinely cared for them.              
What has always meant most to me about coming to Regina long years ago was not just the kindness and judgment Phonse afforded me but the deep friendship with him that has endured forty years since. Now he is at peace.

Till the final ceremony this coming summer, my sincere sympathy to David, Jessica, Nicole, Peggy, Rob, Dan and all of his dear family.

As a former student at Regina, Mr Power was one of my favourite teachers. I was lucky enough to chat with him on several occasions, banging into while he was out for a walk or at McDonalds with his friends. Truly a great soul and wonderful man. He will be missed.

Tracey spoke highly of him as a teacher and enjoyed her chats with him whenever she was home for a visit. Much love to Phonse’s family and friends. He never failed to make me smile, and running into him around town was always a treat. Phonse taught at Regina with my dad, Brian Doody, and I have so many great memories of him from my days there as a student. He always told it like it was, which I loved about him, and had a great sense of humour. He will be missed very much.

I feel privileged to have worked with Phonse for seven years at Regina High School in Corner Brook. Phonse personified sterling characteristics, and may his family take comfort in knowing what a great individual he was. He always spoke proudly of David and David's daughters. Let the memories of a true gentleman  strengthen his family in this time of loss.

He taught me physics in the 80s. In more recent years, used to see him at MacDonalds in Corner Brook when myself and my family were driving across the province.  We would stop for coffee and he would be there with a couple of his buddies for his morning coffee too.  He was always up for a chat and always had a smile to greet you. Condolences to the family. So long ol friend. You signed my year book of 77 saying go see the world and come back only when you did! Well ol blue I did just that and  when I returned I  found you at MacDonalds deep in a good story. It was such a nice reunion. We chatted for hrs catching up. You will be missed sir. I have wonderful memories of Mr Power as my teacher in grade 11/12 at Regina High. He had that special quality that some teachers have. To connect. To see you. And be so kind. And also a really really good teacher. He had a way of  explaining just enough so that you understood it all. I’ve seen a lot of posts and memories about him today. A testament to how well loved he was. My thoughts go out to the family. Rest easy Mr Power.

Mr Power gave me guidance as a student at Regina High School.  He encouraged me to become an Engineer.  I have always said he was my favorite teacher and he gave me the confidence I needed as a teenager.  I feel he played a pivotal part in the outcome of my life.

My sincere condolences. He taught me Physics in grades 10 and 11 at Presentation. He was kind and patient, and when he found out that I liked reading he brought me two Dominion bags full of books. I can’t remember every book, but I know that Roots and Brave New World were in there. And after I finished a book he would ask me what I thought of it and he would listen to my opinions. Wonderful teacher. The world needs a lot more Phonse Powers.

I am saddened to hear that Mr. Power has passed on. I have very fond memories of him teaching us in Grade XI and First Year Arts (Grade XII) at Regina in 1972/73 and1973/74. Very nice man and is forever in my memory. Rest in Peace Phonse.

I had Mr.Power for G12 math. Great teacher. I had challenged him to some tough Math problems (at least I found them hard),  a fews weeks later he came back and had the solutions, learned a lot on that one. Able to connect with his students. Was fun to be in his class. Condolences.

So very sorry to hear of Phonse’s recent passing. Phonse taught me in high school and I was always impressed by the unique combination of intelligence and humour that he displayed. I also enjoyed my conversations with Phonse as he walked the trails of Corner Brook in recent years. My deepest sympathy to the Power family.

My condolences to Mr. Powers family. He did not like that I still called him that after all these years lol. I was fortunate to chat with him every month about funny stories of when I was in high school. He loved to talk about school! And he always brought me a chocolate bar. I missed our monthly laughs when he moved to Nova Scotia.
