Age 73, of Halifax, passed away at home unexpectedly on June 9th, 2016. “Larry”, as he was known to his friends and family, joined the Halifax Police Department in 1965 and faithfully served the city of Halifax as a decorated officer for 31 years. After retiring from the Police force in 1996, Larry continued to serve the municipality as the Director of Emergency Measures for two years. Despite having such a prestigious career, his greatest pride and joy was his family. As a doting father, Larry spent countless hours driving to and from stables and horse shows, holding horses, polishing riding boots and cheering on his daughter as she drained his wallet with her love of horses and animals. Larry was an avid sportsman himself and enjoyed hunting with his beloved English Setters. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Terri Clare; his daughter, Shannon (Clare) Steele and his granddaughter, Hannah Steele. Cremation has taken place and, as per his wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to YWCA Halifax.
