We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Freda; brother, Vernon; sister, Valeria at birth and nephew, Jack, all Greenough's.
Mom is survived by her husband, our dad, James "Jim" Smith; children, Scherene Smith, Lana Smith (Stephen), Kane Smith (Joanne), Peter Smith (Crystal); grandchildren, Whitney Smith, Katelyn Smith and Laura Goodhew; her great-grandson, Chase Smith; step great-grandchildren, Kenzie and Ryder Phillips, Cameron and Taylor Jollimore and sister, Faye MacLean (Greenough).
Mom attempted to be a stay-at-home mom but did work a few part-time jobs at the Dockyard, O'Brien's and Sears. Returning to night school, she then worked 17 years with Human Resources at QEII Health Sciences Centre where she retired and acquired many great friends who she kept in touch with.
Mom was a friend and caregiver to all, she loved children - the sound of their laughter and play. She loved music, guitars and singing. She fed every stray pet that passed by her home whether it flew or walked. Mom enjoyed a game of cards with friends, boating and having a home full of fun. Mom loved life and just knowing her family were fed, warm and healthy. She always said you could never ask for any other blessings than that and God granted it to her.
Thank you to Nancy Jesse, Mom's home care worker from Bayshore. A special thank you to Dr. Crooks for caring for our mom over the years. We also give thanks to the nursing staff at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodobit Harbour.
