Madeline Leonie Murphy

MURPHY, Madeline Leonie - of Halifax passed away peacefully December 18 at home surrounded by family and health care workers who had developed a very close bond with her. Born in Halifax , Madeline worked at Gabriel’s Jewellery Store on Barrington St from the late 50’s until she was recruited by MT&T in 1965 where she remained until her retirement in the late 80’s .Madeline was a daughter of the late Edward and Leonie (Conners) Murphy. Madeline is survive by her sisters Mary (Bill) White (Halifax) and Sister Claire Murphy (Shubenacadie); Nephews Kevin Murphy, Stephen Murphy and Gregory Murphy, David White, Timothy White and Christopher White. She was predeceased by brother Cyril, and sisters Ruth and Mildred. At her request there will be no visitation. Madeline was a fun and feisty lady right to the end, always exhibiting a great sense of humour even through the roughest periods. We will all miss her. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church on Oxford Street at 9:30 am Saturday, December 22nd, Rev. Owen Connolly officiating. Burial following in Holy Cross Cemetery.
