Madeline Murphy

Age 88 of Halifax, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2015, in the Halifax, Infirmary, QEII with family by her side. Born in River Hebert on May 14, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Ethel and Reginald Laviolette.

It is with enormous sadness but inexpressible gratitude that we celebrate the life of our remarkable mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was a mentor and loyal friend who was always there to help others. Mom caringly touched the lives of all who knew her and was a dedicated and loving mother that will be forever loved, missed and highly respected by her children. Her home was always open to family and friends and any time spent with those she loved was special to her. She was a pillar of strength for her family.

She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Joseph and son, Courtney Robert as well as sister, Geraldine Harnett and brother, Dennis Laviolette.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon (Kurt) Nordqvist, Hubbards, Karen (Lee) Latta, Halifax; sons, Barry (Heather) Murphy, Halifax, Gregory (Patricia) Murphy, Bedford, Brian Murphy, and Carey Murphy, Halifax. Brothers, Donald Laviolette, Laurie (Glenda) Laviolette, Lr. Sackville, Gary (Flora) Laviolette, Halifax; sisters, Jenny Mombourquette, Joan O’Quinn, Halifax, Marion “Ducky” Foreman, St. Catherine’s, ON. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home. 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral to be held on Monday, April 27 at 1:00 pm at Snows. Interment in the Gate of Heaven. Flowers welcome.
