Maria "Lucky" Nikolaou

Maria "Lucky" Nikolaou, 42 of Halifax NS, passed away March 3, 2014, at the QEII. Born in Halifax, NS, on July 5, 1971. She was the beloved daughter of Panorea and John Nikolaou. Anyone who was lucky enough to be touched by Maria knew what a special gift she was to the world. Her happy place was without a doubt the beach in Kato Vasiliki where she spent numerous summers lighting up this tiny village in Greece. She loved to dance, and we have no doubt she is now dancing above with the angels. She will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Maria is survived by her sister, Bessy Nikolaou; brothers, George Nikolaou, Billy Nikolaou (Stella); aunt & uncle, Aris and Margaret Mastrapas, Nick and Rena Zelios; cousins, Jimmy and Rothanthe Zelios, Billy and Vickie Mastrapas, Georgina and Jimmy Zelios; nieces, Jorja; Ariana and Yianna; nephews, Niko, Thanasi, and Yianni, and numerous family members in Greece.

Visitation will be held in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (455-0531) on Wednesday, March 5, from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Service will be held in St. George's Greek Orthodox Church on Thursday, March 6, at 2 pm with burial in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in honour of Maria to the ACHD Clinic at the QEII Health Sciences or St. George's Greek Orthodox Community.
