Born on July 21, 1933 Nancy was the only child of the late Roy A. and Kathleen (Brunt) Hanrahan.
Nancy was a graduate of The Sacred Heart School, Dalhousie and Saint Mary’s Universities.
For a few years Nancy was employed in the business world, but when she entered the teaching profession, she discovered her true calling.
With her great passion for teaching, Nancy retired from Saint Agnes and Westmount schools, ending thirty years of service.
For many years Nancy volunteered at the former St. Vincent’s Guest Home, the Halifax Infirmary and Meals On Wheels.
In Nancy’s life, faith was her foundation. She contributed in many ways to Saint Theres’s Parish, serving as lector, teaching Religious Education and assisting with the Liturgy Committee.
In 2017 Nancy took up residence at the Gladstone Berkeley. Here she thoroughly enjoyed the companionships and the entertainment. The great care and concern given by the staff is greatly appreciated.
Fortunately, during her stay at Saint Vincent’s, Nancy has received wonderful and thoughtful care given with much love. For this we are truly grateful.
Nancy is survived by several cousins in the Hanrahan and Brunt families and by her very good friend, Margaret Driscoll.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Bayers Rd on Thursday September 28 at 1 pm.
Following a reception, the inurnment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
