Marilyn Barbara Martin

Marilyn Barbara Martin of Hatchet Lake passed away Monday, March 23rd , 2015 at the VG Palliative Care unit after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 76 years of age.

Marilyn was the daughter of Sadie Yeadon of Whites Lake and her family consisted of sisters, Dorothy and Ruth and brothers, Harold and Leonard. Her most prized possessions were her grandsons, Justin Marriott (Nan’s Professor) and Joshua Martin (Nan’s Gorgeous George)

Left to mourn are daughter, Kimberley Martin (Duane McSweeney) of Hammonds Plains; son, Jason Martin (Lynn) of Whites Lake and grandsons, Justin Marriott and Josh Martin.

Marilyn was a graduate of Miss Murphy’s Business College and worked at the HMC Dockyard before retiring to raise her family. She had an incredible zest for life and loved spending time with friends both old and new while enjoying Aqua Fit, bowling, playing cards and attending the Friday night sessions of the PRCC Jammers .

Marilyn wanted to make mention of some special people in her life - Lynn (daughter- in-law); Mary and Bernie Martin and their families; Ross Babin and family and her extended families - The 5 Amigos, The PRCC JAMMERS and The 11th Floor Chemo Nurses Heather, Stephanie, Kate , Allison and Wavey.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 26th from 7-9 pm with a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, March 27th at 2 pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations made be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Ovarian Cancer Society .
