Marjorie Dodson, 62, of Halifax, NS and San Carlos, Republic of Panama, passed away last Saturday in Moncton, New Brunswick, near her beloved Parlee Beach after a courageous 5 year battle against cancer.
Born in Halifax, Marj was the daughter of Allan T. Sabean and Margo (Charlebois) Sabean. Marj touched the lives of many youth over a dedicated career in teaching spanning over 35 years. Her determination to make a positive difference in childrens’ learning and individuality took her from every elementary grade, to teaching high school and university, to working with special needs and youth at risk.
To her, family was everything. Marj loved nature and travel and eventually built a new home in Panama, adopting a new culture and language, always grateful and humbled by what the universe has to offer.
She lived her values with grace, patience, humility and a big heart, but never shied away from being mischievous and adventurous. Her caring and character shone through as evidenced by the many friends she made from many countries and walks of life. She always made time for those who needed a friend to lean on or to get into mischief with.
There is a big void in our world tonight; we will all miss you so much but never doubt your presence will always be felt close in our hearts.
Marj is survived by her husband, Jerry Dodson; son, Bret Dodson; brother, Brent Sabean; sister, Eleanor Sabean; nieces and nephews, Allan, Emma and Maxwell Walsh; Andrea and Jenn Sabean; Kelly Dodson and Christopher and Kate Dodson. She is predeceased by her parents, Allan and Margo Sabean and brother, Christopher Sabean.
Visitation will be held on September 13th, Tuesday evening at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, between 7pm and 9pm.
