

FALT, Mary Carol – 69, Halifax, passed away at home March 12, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Goldenville, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Mildred (McGrath) Nauss and Gordon R. Whidden. Mary was a long-time employee of the Sears outlet store having more than 30 years at the time of her retirement. Mary enjoyed curling and was a member of the former Glencoe Curling Club and then a member of the business ladies at the Mayflower Curling Club. In earlier years Mary enjoyed following her children’s sporting events - and more recently her grandchildren’s sporting activities. In the last several years she took great joy in spending time at the cottage in Hampton, PEI. Mary is survived by her husband John, daughter Christina (Chris Welsh), grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew and Zachary Welsh and father-in-law, Paul Falt. Besides her parents she was predeceased by two sons, Gordon (in infancy), Craig, and stepfather, Clyde Nauss. No visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lakewood Dr., Halifax on Wednesday, March, 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carson Baxter officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
