Maureen is survived by her sons Tom (Kerrie Lee) and Jason (Leanne), grandchildren Brent, Ryan, Adam and Kate, siblings Bette (Jerry, dec.) Cooke, Pauline (Jack, dec.) Myrden, Jean (Pete, dec.) Daniels, Mike (Barb) Quigley, Tim (Georgie) Quigley, Bill (Genevieve) Quigley, Barb (Rich) Williams, twin Maxine Quigley, Sheila (Les) Hoyles, as well as many nieces and nephews. Maureen is predeceased by Tom and Jason's father Thomas, her parents Tim and Dorothy Quigley, her sister Patricia (James) Myrden, and her brother Thomas “Bud” Quigley.
Maureen loved her career and the satisfaction from the organization and problem solving provided by her trade. She was instrumental in the startup of the family business, dedicating most nights and weekends to running the company behind the scenes for the first fifteen years while working normal full-time hours outside of the business during the day. She joined the company full-time for the remainder of her career, continuing her dedication to work right up until the summer of last year.
Maureen’s true passion was her family, of whom she was immensely proud and who she leaves with an abundance of beautiful memories. The joy she received from spending time with her grandchildren was obvious and infectious. Maureen was also known for her love of simple pleasures including good company, good food, a good book and of course sweet treats, especially her love of chocolate. Maureen proved just how selfless a mother can be as the only woman in a house of four for many years. Her patience was tested greatly and often throughout this time, as was her loving sense of humor, which was always on full display. She will be missed dearly by all she touched.
There will be a celebration of Maureen’s life on Wednesday March 19th at 10:00 am at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, NS, followed by a reception at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
