Michael David Annis

July 25, 1948October 5, 2019

Age 71 of Bedford passed away peacefully on October 5, 2019 after a battle with brain cancer. Born in Halifax, he was the oldest son of the late Murray and Patricia (Thomas) Annis. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Christine Delodder.

He will be sadly missed by sister, Jill (David) Ramsden of England; brother Steve Annis of Lower Sackville, and their families; as well as Christine’s siblings of PEI: Anne, Johnny, Bernard and David Delodder and their families.

Mike loved carpentry and working with wood – building small things from wood as a child, and working in construction part time during high school. This passion guided his career choice: teaching carpentry for 33 years at the Nova Scotia Community College until his retirement in 2008. He always considered himself lucky to have had a career that combined two things he loved: carpentry and teaching. Mike was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed many hours in his workshop where he was always happy to share his talents.

Mike loved life and lived it to the fullest with family and many friends. Together with Christine, Mike enjoyed summers at the cottage in PEI with family and friends and cruises exploring many parts of the world. He left behind a lot of strength, love, and great memories that will be cherished forever. Mike was known for the love he had for his wife Christine. He faced his diagnosis with strength and hope, always more worried about Christine than himself.

So sorry for your loss . I was a student of Mike's in the 90s; he was an amazing teacher and mentor. His knowledge of his trade was a great asset to me . I had the privilege of working with Mike in and outside the classroom and have many fond memories of those times . Over the years , I have put his knowledge to great use . Even though we didn't keep in touch much, he was a great friend that will never be forgotten .

Dear Christine:
We just heard of Mike's illness and passing. A shock to hear this news as Mike was such an energetic , vibrient person. Always busy doing something. As neighbours in Brudenell, we always remarked about his energy-building something or cutting down trees , he was always on the move.
Our deepest sympathy to you. We know how close you were as a couple and it is a terrible loss to you.
Our love and thoughts are with you at this sad time.
Hugs, Vee& Harold

Growing up we looked up to Mike. We called him Big Mike. I lived with his family for a couple of months when we were teens and he always treated me very well. He was older than me and had a car so that was a big deal for me. He would let us wash his car and then he would take us to A and W. we lost touch over the years but I was very sorry to hear of his death. Sincerely Henry Gallant

I first met Mike, when I worked at Poole's Corner PEI. David left him with us, so he could check on something. I thought he was an owner, so I was on my best behaviour. He played the part well, he was so interested in what we were looking for in the product. When David returned, He said, oh Val, this is my Brother in law Mike. He had a great laugh over me thinking, he was an owner. He was such a great guy. He & Christine, often popped in when I was cleaning for David in Brudenell. Mike left a lasting Memory with me & I am so blessed to have met him. My Heartfelt condolence to Christine & his Family. RIP Mike

I will always remember Mike as an extremely dedicated and conscientious team player at the NSCC. He was well organized and could evaluate student projects right down to a tenth of a point. I think he got some assistance from home to help tabulate the results. His love of carpentry was infectious and I know that his students loved him.
My condolences to family and friends
