A gentle and compassionate man, Mike learned courage and perseverance at an early age during the polio epidemic. Not deterred by his issues, he became an active member of the Boy Scouts, an altar boy and a bad golfer.
Mike lost his confirmed bachelor status at the advanced age of 42. His wife Jean became and remained the precious centre of his universe for 38 years. The closeness and power of their relationship was extraordinary.
Mike attended St. Pat’s High School and SMU then embarked on a 25-year career in the insurance industry.
Later Mike and Jean together bought and operated The UPS Store in Upper Tantallon. Not only did they thoroughly enjoy working together (for over 20 years!) but also delighted in the friendships they developed with their customers.
In addition to Jean, Mike is survived by his sister Janet (Todd Tait), brother Stephen (Alexandra) as well as six nieces and one nephew, many cousins in the Crowell and Murphy clans, his Uncle Mario, Aunts Elinor and Norma. He was predeceased by his parents Jean C. Crowell and Robert (Bob) G. Crowell.
If you wish to make a donation in Mike’s memory, please give consideration to The QE2 or the NS Lung Association.
Honour this unique and cherished man by telling a joke, laughing often, being kind, hugging heartily, and raising a glass in friendship.
There will be a private gravesite tribute.
We will miss our sweet prince.
