Rae, Mildred Jean, 89, of Halifax passed away May 11, 2026. Born in Fredericton, N.B. on September 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Harold E. Baird and Jean Baird (Munro) and was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Ian Douglas Rae, and her brother the late Harold M. Baird (Brandon, Manitoba).
She was a graduate of Victoria General School of Nursing and spent many years working as an R.N. at Grace Maternity Hospital, V.G. and Camphill Hospitals. She was a long-time member of the Rockingham United Church and a musician, songwriter and poet.
Surviving are her sons David (Emily) Rae and children Mallory and Bruce, Douglas (Nichole) Rae and children Julia and Griffin, and Stephen Rae and son Ethan.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday May 19 at JA Snow Funeral Home, 399 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Funeral service will be 10am on Wednesday May 20th also at the funeral home. Burial to follow that day in Little Harbour Pictou County.
