On July 19, 2021, our loving mother passed away at the age of 80. With heavy hearts, we must say goodbye for now. Our mother was born in Kfar Habou, Lebanon and was the 4th of 8 children. She was a brave hearted lady who at a very young age immigrated to Canada to help create a better life for her family gaining skills as a hairstylist and manicurist. Along with her sister, she owned and operated the House of Beauty on Windsor Street for 49 years. We know our mom as an avid gardener with the gift of being able to grow anything. She was a cook beyond compare who kept us well fed with stuffed grape leaves from her vines all year long. She had the most beautiful hands that worked so hard, held us so firm and hugged us so tight. Of all of mom’s passions, none were greater than her love of family. Gone is the one person in our lives that believed the entire world revolved around us.
She leaves behind her loving children, Nada (Elie) Abou Haidar, Salim, Sandy (Mark) Gillie and Sonia (Camil) Yazbek and their father Wissam. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Mya, Mikyle, Lucas, Leia, Tony, and Elie. She is survived by her siblings Saada (Saadallah) George, Leo (Hala), Bassam (Linda) and Salma (Issam) Hanna, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her Abou Haidar family. She is predeceased by her father Antonios, mother Mariam Mekdissy and brothers, Norman (Ibtissam), Talat (Najat) and Abraham (Vera). We will miss you tremendously mom, but we will carry you in our hearts always. Go to your House of Beauty in Heaven and wait for us there.
