Nicole Manzoni, 74, of Halifax, NS, passed away November 15, 2017 at The Northwood Centre in Halifax. She was born May 27, 1943 in Quebec, to Ulysse and Thérèse Tremblay.
She is survived by her 3 children, son Sandro Manzoni (wife Eileen Squires), and daughters; Olga Manzoni (husband Fred Fiander) and Nadia Manzoni (partner Ed Daley). She loved and was deeply loved by her grandchildren; Ovide & Chanel Mazerolle, Kyle & Chelsea Manzoni, and Macey Fiander, as well as a great grandson, James (son of Ovide).
Nicole was lovingly known as Gram, Nonna, Ma’, Mama, Nic and by the children at the Dalhousie Day Care “Nicole the Cook”. She loved to cook! Especially traditional Quebecois and Italian foods and feasts. She shared with full heart an appreciation for food and family – and showed her love of those in her life by making their favourite foods. Friends would often leave from a “first feast” in complete awe… and sorry they didn’t wear their stretchy pants.
Nicole was a deeply caring person who would give of herself where and when she was needed. She worked as a nurse’s aide for a time, which gave her extreme satisfaction. Even when her health failed her, she would not hesitate to offer help after any story of difficulty that was shared with her.
She loved to laugh and be silly with her children and grandchildren. And that unguarded giving of herself is what we, her children, will cherish and keep in our hearts as we remember her.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the team of Northwood Centre for Living (8C) for the loving care they provided to Nicole. They became an extension of the family in celebration and in difficult times.
There will be a private service at Snow’s Funeral Home, Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Sunday, November 19th.
