It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Patricia Anne Emmett, 71, of Bedford, NS, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at home on Sandy Lake.
Pat was born on January 20, 1954, to Ruth and Cyril Sullivan in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Following her graduation from St. Patrick’s High School, Pat worked in office and government positions before leaving the workforce to focus on raising her family. As the demands on her time from her growing children lessened, she chose a new role as an Educational Program Assistant. This allowed her to support other children while still being available to meet her own family’s needs. She especially valued her time working with the students who needed support the most.
Pat is predeceased by her loving husband John, her mother and father Ruth and Cerry, her mother and father-in-law Jack and Trudy, brothers Danny and Stephen, niece Adrienne, and grand nephew Brennan. She is survived by her son Jonathan, daughters Kelly (Jonathan), Erin (Paul), Shannon (Andrew), and nine grandchildren (Oliver and Joshua Emmett; Madeline, Owen, and Gabriella DeCoste; Evangeline and Luke Evans; and Parker and Josie Evans). Pat is also survived by her brother Terry (Tracey), sisters-in-law Pam and Ann Maria, brother-in-law Peter (Heather), and many nieces and nephews.
Mornings were spent sitting in her favourite chair, a cup of tea in hand, looking out at the lake. Her days were full, thinking of and helping others. From taking care of grandchildren to school pick-ups and running errands, Pat would do anything she could to help make the lives of her loved ones easier. Pat crocheted the most beautiful blankets and baby items to celebrate every new addition to her growing extended family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she was the designated family vacation coordinator. Shopping was another great love of Pat’s, and reminders of her thoughtfulness can be found spread throughout her children’s homes. After spending the last several years helping her children establish their families and taking care of John throughout his illness, it brought Pat so much joy to reconnect with her friends and family over the last few months.
A private visitation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at Shining Waters Marina (head of St. Margaret’s Bay) on Saturday, April 19th from 1-3pm. In honour of Pat’s generous spirit, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to an organization that holds special meaning for you.
Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever.
