

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Ray Vincent Colp on January 30, 2018 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Ray was born on June 15, 1923 to Albert and Victoria (Conrad) Colp, Bayport, Lunenburg County, NS. By age 17, he moved to Halifax and worked at Sears for 42 years, retiring in 1983. After retiring, he enjoyed curling at Mayflower Curling Club in winter and, in summer, meeting his friends for a game of golf at Pin-Hi Golf Club. Ray was a very kind, gentle person, always thinking of others before himself.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florence, whom he married July 26, 1947. He is also survived by nieces, Nancy (Reg) MacMillan, Bridgewater, NS; Sandra Malchuk, Alberta; Sharon (Tommy) Spindler, Halifax, NS; Donna (Mark) Boucher, Ottawa, ON and by nephews, David (Debbie) Spindler, Halifax, NS; Scott (Debbie) Moreash, Richmond Hill ON. He is also survived by a very special great-nephew, Cole Boucher who has been his pride and joy from the day he was born. He was predeceased by sisters, Evelyn Schmeisser, Freida Kernaghan, Evangeline Spindler and a brother, Borden. Ray was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of our Savior, Dartmouth.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place and service of celebration will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Richard Beiber and Pastor Steve Croft officiating, with a reception to follow. Private interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, NS will be at a later date. No flowers, please. Donations may be made in his memory to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice if so desired.
