Regis Patricia Phalen

March 17, 1928January 9, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Regis Patricia Phalen, Halifax . Regis was born in Glace Bay on March 17, 1928, she was the daughter of John George Phalen and Mary Cecilia (Currie) Phalen. Regis was always ready for an adventure and enjoyed long walks, swimming, skating and golf. Mom’s summers in Ingonish were special times spent with family. Mom loved being Nana to Jordan, Graham and Elizabeth and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Charmaine Feetham, Kerry (Andrew) Lynk and her son Gregory Feetham. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Cecil; sisters Bernice, Shirley, Germaine. Regis is survived by her sister Geraldine (Enso) Antonello and brothers John and Gerard (Chrissy) Phalen, of Glace Bay, and several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks: our family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Halifax who went above and beyond with their care for our mom. Mom had been a patient for the past eight years and the entire staff treated mom with the utmost dignity, respect and love. The whole staff have been mom’s angels.

At mom’ s request cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at a later date in Sydney, NS. All are welcome to attend a reception to be held at Cruikshanks Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, Thursday January 16, 2020. My dear Aunt Regis: Oh how I love to recall the many times you came to visit when I still lived at home with my Mom and Dad in Glace Bay, Sydney and Halifax. You were always so positive, so interesting, and so knowledgeable. You made all matters look important, and were steadily encouraging, with big smiles. These happy memories are still with me. Once I left home, we rarely met again, but when we did, it was as if time stopped. Thank you, Regis, for these lovely memories, and knowing you and your steadfastness. These will remain. In deep appreciation … from me, my husband Paul, and my family in Fredericton and now also in Oslo.

To my cousins on both Phalen and Currie sides.

God bless Regis and all family. Another leaf has fallen from our Family Tree - now 61K printed words on my 56 years of research.
My vivid, pleasant memories remain of our great Cape Breton Island and especially about my growing up and family inter-actions in Glace Bay St. Anne's parish.
