At the age of 58, Susie passed away following a brief illness at the Halifax Infirmary on December 27, 2024, surrounded by her closest loved ones. Her passing has left a large empty space in our hearts.
Susie was born in Halifax to her parents Frederick and Ferne Barton. She spent her formative years in Truro before eventually moving back to Halifax. She wore several hats over the years, having worked as a childcare provider, hairstylist, and most recently a registration clerk with NS Health.
Susie was predeceased by her parents, with whom she shared a special bond. She is survived by her children Adam and Emily Gray (Andrew Overholt), siblings Judy (Ian) McKay, Rod (Helen) and Brian Barton. She loved nothing more than being able to spend time with, and care for her grandson, Wells. Susie is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Susie enjoyed her quiet time by crafting and doing puzzles. She loved the time she spent at frequent family gatherings. She was known for her kindness, positivity and warmth, with an infectious smile and comforting hug. She was an extremely caring individual, always putting her concern for others before herself. Her generosity knew no bounds. She was very proud of her children’s accomplishments. Susie was an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. We will miss her dearly and will cherish our memories forever.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-4PM on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Remarks will be at 2:30PM.
