Age 58, of Bedford, formerly of Hammonds Plains, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2018 of cholangiocarcinoma. Richard was a son of Harry and Pauline (Beattie) of Bridgewater. Besides his parents, Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Christine (Henry), as well as
daughters, Dr. Rebecca Dielschneider (Tyler) of Winnipeg, Man., and Jocelyn Simich (Matthew) of Bowmanville, Ont.; and one grandson, Seth. Richard also leaves behind siblings, Valarie Dore (Mike), Janice Rand (Paul), Chris DeLong (Joan) and Sylvia Ali (Sam). Richard will also be remembered by a large extended family. After graduating from SMU Richard headed west to work as a night auditor at The Prince Royal Inn. Before long he was back home and working at Ashburn Golf Club as Assistant Manager prior to beginning his career in printing. Over the next 10 years he worked for Crain-Drummond (formerly RL Crain) before starting his own business (Printcom) in 1995, which he operated right up until his death. Richard was heavily involved in his community and he served on local resident associations, CP Allen SAC, and the Hammonds Plains - Lucasville PC Constituency (serving most recently as their President/Treasurer). He was a long-time member of Birch Cove Baptist Church where he served on numerous boards and committees.
Richard was a proud SMU alumni and enjoyed supporting the Huskies at many sporting events. One of his fondest memories was witnessing a Vanier Cup win in Toronto. Richard loved working on his cars, and he couldn't resist cleaning anyone's dirty vehicle when it was sitting in our driveway. Richard will be missed by his many friends including his usual lunch partner Dave.
Richard and Christine enjoyed many trips together: visiting children out west, vacationing down south, cruising around the Greek Islands, and more! Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., on February 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral will be held in Birch Cove Baptist Church, 50 Donaldson Ave., on February 22nd at 11 a.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birch Cove Baptist Memorial Fund
