Robert Douglas Adshade passed away suddenly in his home in Bedford on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. News of the illness came as a shock to himself, remaining family members and close friends. Rob took the news with grace and insisted he would spend his remaining days at home surrounded by family and friends and enjoy the time he had left.
Rob was born in Digby on March 14th, 1956. As a child he helped on the family farm with chores developing the strong work ethic we all knew him to have. He was passionate about animals from an early age and always had at least one four-legged friend by his side. He cared deeply for his dogs, Laddie, Cinny, Sasha and most recently Beau to name a few.
Rob attended Digby Regional High School and later went on to graduate from Acadia University in 1977 obtaining a bachelor's degree in business administration. He then started his career in business being employed with the province of Nova Scotia and later moved up to the Federal government as a corporate tax auditor for 30 years.
In 2012 Rob retired from the Canada Revenue Agency and worked from home as a part time tax professional allowing him to travel, relax at the cottage on Haines Lake, and enjoy a slower pace of life. Since his retirement he has enjoyed several trips to Mexico with his close friends. Rob had the biggest heart and enjoyed helping others. Most recently he became involved aiding in the immigration progress of individuals from Ukraine. He opened his door and heart to many who quickly became a part of his Halifax family.
Robert is survived by his brother William (Bill) Adshade, niece Kimberly Ferguson, nephew William Adshade, great nephew Jace Ferguson, and great niece Evelyn Ferguson. Robert was predeceased by his Father Douglas Adshade, and Mother Jean Adshade (Lambertson).
We would like to invite family and friends to a Celebration of life for Rob at the Innovation Room, Bedford- Hammonds Plains Community Centre, 202 Innovation Drive, Hammonds Plains on September 12th at 5:30.
There will also be a burial service at the Barton cemetery on Saturday, September 14th at 1:00pm followed by a gathering at his cottage, 72 Roys Lane on Haines lake.
