Halifax, NS, passed away August 13, 2022 at Victoria General Hospital Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Born in Halifax, Robert was the son of Howard Brown (Sydney Mines, NS) and Joyce Brown (Beck) (Halifax, NS).
Robert spent his career at sea, starting as a deckhand on fishing trawlers in 1970 and through hard work, education and dedication to his craft, he became one of the first men to achieve his class one fishing license.
Robert was a long term employee of National Sea Fisheries and the Clearwater Fisheries where he retired from in 2021.
Robert enjoyed spending his down time at his cottage enjoying the quiet or sitting in his workshop reading anything and everything, stopping occasionally to have a quick chat with whoever passed the door or stopped in for a tea.
Robert was always learning something new and using that knowledge to try and stump his daughter on something she may not have known. This was something that went on and became known as “the head full of useless information” that jokingly was referred to as “hereditary” when his daughter started challenging his knowledge with her own.
Always ready to share a smart remark or an over the top joke that you had to be quick to catch, he kept his family laughing and on their toes until the very end.
Robert survived by his wife of 50 years Sandra Brown (Blackburn) Halifax, NS, daughter Andrea L Brown Sousa (Joe Sousa ) Edmonton, AB, Brother Daniel Brown (Diane) Enfield, NS, his grandchildren Hanna and Mattias Sousa Edmonton, AB, along with many brothers in law and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family friends.
Predeceased by his Son Shawn Brown, Father Howard Brown, Mother Joyce Brown, Sister Heather Brown.
