Thinking of you guys at this very sad time. I was out of the province when you had the celebration of life. I was sad to have to miss this. The photographs brought back great memories of the beautiful couple I was fortunate enough to babysit their children.

Bobby was a talented and unique person.  He was funny and mischievous and enjoyed a good time.  Dennis, loved to spend time with his older brother discussing what was happening in each others lives.  Now, my hope is that they are enjoying a cup of coffee and enjoying some great stories.

Dear Margie, 
I will always remember Robert not only as my favourite teacher, but as a dear friend, albeit later in life after we reconnected.  I was one of those students that sent him a card thanking him after graduating.  I graduated in 1977/1978.  The memories I have studying Hamlet and Macbeth under Robert is something that I will always cherish.  Robin and I became Stratford Festival members for a number of years (a direct result of Roberts's teaching and passion).  We enjoyed going out a few times with you and Robert here in Toronto and in Halifax.  I also think of my phone conversations with Robert, while sometimes foggy, always enjoyable.  Many, many, years after graduating he was instructing me to read "The Waste Land" and "Do Not Go Gentle in to That Good Night" again! So of course, I did so.
Our deepest condolences to you and your family.  He will truly be missed by many and most assuredly by myself and Robin.  May he Rest In Peace.

He will be remembered by his students as a trail blazer . An icon.  An irreplaceable man,  way ahead of his time, whose zest for life & love of literature will never  be extinguished from the minds of his adoring students.

I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Caume's passing.  He was an amazing teacher.  He taught us so much more than English at St. Mikes.  He was smart, funny,  and kind.  He cared about us, and talked to us on a personal level.  I hope he knew how much of an impact he made on his students.  He will never be forgotten.

Kaye and I are deeply saddened by the terrible news of Robert’s passing. We have been blessed with your friendship through the years. Robert, having taught all the grade 12 students at Saint Michael High for many years, once quipped that for a time, he taught half the people of Glace Bay. He taught most of my family of 11 children, of whom I was the last. Later as my supervising teacher and then as friends, Kaye and I shared many special times together with you. Robert was one of a kind. Whether it was fast walking to the airport and back with a tattered copy of Hamlet in hand, or creating a window display for a high end clothing store in Halifax, or teaching the guts out of a complex poem in class or putting on a stunning theatrical production somewhere, this man was lightening in a bottle. Boundless creativity, refinement, and articulation led the way to living intensely and urgently. Abundantly clear is that his children and his grandchildren always were Robert’s pride and joy and you, Margie, simply the love of his life. You will surely have Bobby with you, in your hearts and at your side  forever. We are so disappointed we can’t be present at the service, but we will be thinking of you dearly.

Mr. Caume was my English teacher in grade twelve in 1982. He was passionate in his class teaching the classic novels Shakespeare  I learned a lot about literature.. I love his pruduction in theatre.  He was a class act. Saw him at the doctors office and told him he put on amazing  production at the savoy theatre.He and wife look great. My condolences to his family..

Bobby was my favourite brother-in-law.  He loved books and movies and we had lots of discussions about whatever was the latest show or musical or book or movie on the market.  I enjoyed his enthusiastic reviews.  He never just watched a movie, he analyzed it.  He didn’t just read a book, he critiqued it.  You could always rely on his thoughtful recommendations.  He was fun.  Bobby and Margie’s love for each other was like none other.  I miss him already.

There is no doubt he was extremely proud of the woman, wife, mother and friend you are. You can move the girl out of the east coast, but you can never take the east coast out of the girl. I am one of the ‘74 graduates of Saint Michael Senior High that had the privilege of attending Grade 12 English class under the direction of Mr.Caume … … I passed English … I was part of the decorating committee for the various formals he planned I.e Winter Carnival, A Class and Prom ,   Mr Caume and his wife  Margery were invited to our 50 year reunion July 2024 ….he did not hesitate to accept …his enthusiasm and love of dance and memories of 1974 had brought all the memories flooding back …I will cherish that memory … thank you Mr  Caume for making the year 1973 -74  and 2024 special and unforgettable …. Rest in peace
