My heartfelt condolences to all of Scott's family.  I have fond memories of hanging out at Trottier Park, MacDonalds, etc in Montreal and then meeting up again in Mississauga with all the other Montrealers that moved there.  Such a funny guy.

My sincere condolences to Scott's entire family. We met in ski school when we were kids and even though we lost touch after high school, he still put the same old happiness in my heart when I saw him again after 33 years at the Riverdale reunion. Scott had that same affect on everyone who knew him. He always spoke so proudly of Janice and his children,parents and sister. May God watch over all of you during this difficult time.

Scott you will be sadly missed... your friends and family onboard HMCS Athabaskan will miss your smiling face..

My thoughts and deepest condolences to all Scott's family. Scott and I were like brothers during our teens and early twenties, almost inseparable. Over time we drifted apart but just knowing Scott was around and that possibly one day our paths may cross again was comforting. My heart breaks thinking of what you must be going through. Take solace in knowing Scott was well liked by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to the Oaks family in this time of sorrow. My thoughts are with you all.
It was incredibly easy to be a friend of Scott's..he was warm, charming, and absolutely hilarious with his dry wit and unique perspective on life. I can still hear him saying...  "Wow man...thats really deep." in that way that only Scott had. Only a person that has a huge capacity for seeing the depth and beauty in life says something like that. 
You have left us way too soon old friend....you are sorely missed.

To this day when I put on skis I always think of Scott. We used to ski every Saturday in the Eastern Townships; we probably didn't want to get up for school but we never missed the 6 a.m. bus that took us to the hill. Scott was a wonderful skier; graceful and confident. He had a lot of patience for me as I was neither, and I remember one afternoon being afraid to ski down the mountain during a blizzard. Scott calmly removed his skis and walked me down the side of the run, stumbling in the wind and losing feeling in his fingers and toes, but did so cheerfully, a friend taking care of a friend.

I met you once, in the Subway at CFLRS. I spent 14 weeks of basic training with Scott as a member of my section. He spent many days teaching me things about life, and we quickly became close friends. We went through 14 weeks of tough, and exciting challenges, and Scott was always leading 3 section with his wisdom. Much of his wisdom was given down to me, as I was just 18 and he took a liking to helping me. I can't imagine getting through some things without him, he will be missed by all in R0322E 3 Section. My condolences.

Scott, words can't express how saddened I feel at your loss.  You were one of the good guys..  kind, respectful, always making people smile with your humour and great stories.   You had an enviable curiosity about life which led to so many interesting adventures.  I would have been first in line to buy your autobiography.  

You are a beautiful soul who will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved you.. it was a privilege to call you my friend.  My deepest condolences to your cherished family.

Although 40 years had passed since we'd really seen one another from the Dollard days, meeting you again in Halifax just a few years ago by fluke was fantastic. We commiserated on so many subjects, had so much in common including voice-over work, and nearly started our second (third?) careers together with the RCMP, then the Canadian Armed Forces. I will never forget your smile, our engaging conversations and my admiration for you. Too soon, Scott, too soon. Love to all of your family both close and far away.

I have just read of Scott's passing.  I am so very saddened to read this.  I had the pleasure of meeting Scott while we were both sailing on HMCS Athabaskan this past fall.  Scott was an older guy like myself so I sought him out to chat with from time to time as work allowed.  He was such an interesting man, and with a zest for life and living it with his family and it gave me much pleasure to connect with him and chat.  My deepest condolences to your family, Scott.  We are all much the poorer now with your leaving too soon.

We were friends since childhood... and though we didn't see each other much in adulthood, when we did, it was as if no time had gone by at all!

You were so easy to talk to... such a positive force... a lover of life... young at heart and still looking great... someone who seemed to know what was really important... You lifted my spirits with your attitude and your strength and your good sense of humour...  I just can't believe that this has happened!

Of all of us, I didn't think you'd be gone first. :'(
