

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Lowe), his children, Scott Weatherston (Leslie) and Karen Brown (David), his step-daughter Jennifer Howarth (Peter), his grandchildren Sarah (Byron) Kavanagh, Ben, Cate, Will, Reese and Bailey, the mother of his children Elsie Stoddard, his brother -in -law Dr.Paul MacLean, niece Lara and nephews Trent and Cail and step-grandchildren , Keegan, Makale, Mulu, Breanne and Joshua.
Dad was predeceased by his , youngest son Robert Fulton Weatherston, parents Jean and Don Weatherston, his sister Trinda Lee MacLean, his step-son , Peter Selig.
He attended Tower Road School, Gorsebrook Junior High and Queen Elizabeth High School. He grew up on Regina Terrace in Halifax and The Waegwoltic Club playing tennis. In 1955 Dad was runner-up in U18 Canadian Tennis Nationals in Ottawa.
Dad attended Dalhousie University and was a multisport varsity athlete. At Dal he played basketball, football, curled, played tennis and badminton. He was the recipient of two big D’s and three small ones for his excellence in sport.
After Dal, Dad went to work at Safety Supply Canada in the Fire Safety business. In 1984 he started Micmac Fire and Safety Ltd which he ran until his retirement in 2011. Micmac was the first company to secure a dealership for Pierce Fire trucks in Atlantic Canada. Today there is Pierce Fire Apparatus throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Tennis was ever present in Dad’s life. In 1980 he was elected President of the Nova Scotia Tennis Association and in 1982 received an Award for Outstanding Services. Then in 1992 he was given Sport Nova Scotia Service Award in Tennis. He was also inducted into the Tennis Honor Roll at the Westin Hotel in 1999. Dad was so grateful for his tennis coach , “I personally would not have the fond memories of youth that I enjoy because of my association with tennis and a man by the name of Bev Piers who made it all possible”
In later years Dad cherished his time at the Blueberry Cottage in Malpeque, Prince Edward Island with his wife Patricia, his children, grandchildren and friends. The Malpeque community and PEI was serenity for Dad. He loved exploring the Historic Red Clay roads, golfing at Glasgow Hills with Al Iaboni and ice cream at Twin Shores. Also, he enjoyed the spectacular sunsets over Taylors Pond and Cabot Beach.
Dad’s kindness, amazing sense of humor and competitive spirit will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the excellent care that Dad received from the Hematology, Radiology, Cardiology, Respirology and Infectious Disease teams and all the staff on 8A at The Victoria General Hospital.
