Born in Pratola Peligna, Italy in 1951, he was the son of the late Giovanni Cianfaglione and Concetta (Zavarella) Cianfaglione, and the son-in-law of the late Ezio Di Cesare.
Rocco is survived by his wife Diana (Di Cesare) Cianfaglione, his son Giovanni Cianfaglione, his daughter Concetta Cianfaglione, his brother Angelo Cianfaglione, his mother-in-law Clementina Presutti, his brother-in-law Emidio (Mariella) Di Cesare, sister-in-law Franca (Quirino) Taglieri, and his many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and all over the world.
Rocco was known for his kind heart, his selflessness, his magnifying smile and was always prepared with a joke or two to share that would light up a room. His positive spirit, and the love and support of his family, helped him fight a long hard battle with Multiple Sclerosis for 38 years. He was considered influential by many through his two passions, education and athletics. Rocco graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, followed by a Bachelor of Education Degree from Saint Mary’s University in 1976. Rocco loved his profession of teaching, as well as his students who knew him as the legendary “Mr. C”. Rocco taught at numerous schools throughout his career, including: Atlantic Memorial Elementary School, Brookside Junior High School, Gorsebrook Junior High School, Oxford School, St. Agnes School, St. Andrews School, St. Catherine’s Elementary School, St. Patrick’s-Alexandra School, St. Patrick’s High School, Tantallon Junior High School, Westmount Elementary School, amongst many others. Rocco was a champion in growing youth soccer in Nova Scotia both at the club and provincial levels. Rocco encouraged and mentored others to get involved in the game. Last but not least, Rocco was a strong Saint Mary’s University Huskies supporter and a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan, who never missed a game. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He will be forever in our hearts.
A private viewing will be held for the family, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
