Ronald Bernard Behie, age 78, of Sand Point, passed away peacefully at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish, on February 8, 2021, with his family and ICU Team by his side. Born in Sheet Harbour, on May 26, 1942, he was a son of the late Earl Behie and Dora (Rutledge) Behie, and husband of Sharon (Carrigan) Behie for 56 years.
Ronald is survived by his daughter, Kimberley O'Halloran, son-in-law, Wade O'Halloran; his grandchildren: Kyle, Emma and Sarah. Also survived by brother, Sidney (Andrea), Sheet Harbour, sister Helen Bevis, Trenton, Elizabeth Prest (Dougal), Mooseland, and his many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by sister, Teresa Spears; brothers, Basil, Carl, James and Douglas.
Ronald grew up in Sheet Harbour, later moving with his young family to Ontario, working various types of employment. He returned home to Nova Scotia in 1973 and worked as a carpenter since that time.
Ronald was a former member of the Seven Communities Volunteer Fire Department.
Friends and family will remember Ronnie for his sense of humour and contagious laugh.
Hospitalized for the past 18 months, Ronald's courage and determination to live was an inspiration to all. Heartfelt thanks goes out to his doctors and nurses in ICU who went above and beyond. Sincere thanks to family and friends who have supported us throughout these difficult months. His spirit is at peace and he will be remembered and loved.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on February 19, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mulgrave. COVID-19 restrictions will be in effect. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
