

It is with profound sadness that the family of Rose Delima Deveau announce her passing at the age of 86 at the QEII hospital in Halifax on Tuesday 6 September, 2022. Born on 17 August, 1936 in Meteghan, NS to the late Lucie (Doucette) and Denis (des soeurs) Deveau. She was predeased by siblings: Sister Rita Deveau, Elizabeth (Joe) Robichaud, Hubert (Rose Marie), Victor (Leona and Barbara), Jean-Louis (Rose Marie), Aline Theriault, Louise and Aunt Catherine. She is survived by brother –in-law Neil Theriault, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great, grandnieces and nephews.
Rose was an elementary school teacher in Cape Breton and later in HRM. She volunteered for many years at Beacon House, Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Catholic Women’s’ League. She spent many winters in Florida making numerous friends wherever she went. She travelled throughout Canada, the US, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe and Russia with her friend Josie LeBlanc and nephew Denis and his wife Sandra and their travel companions. She was Aunt Rose to everyone. She loved to play cards, do puzzles, was a great cook and always had a smile and a friendly laugh for everyone. She was generous and kind to all and loved by all.
As per Rose’s wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be at 11 am on Thursday 15 September at St Ignatius Church, 1288 Bedford Highway, Bedford, NS with Father John DeCoste officiating. Burial to be held immediately following at the Gate of Heaven cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the IWK Hospital, Christian Child Care International (Chalice) Bedford, St Vincent the Paul Society, Sackville NS or the NS Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
