Ross, the oldest of four children, was born on September 24th 1949, to Joyce (Daley) and David Landers in Digby, Nova Scotia.
After graduating from Acadia University, having earned the university medal for highest marks in Business Administration, he went on to have a successful career spanning 5 decades in both public and private accounting. He was a partner at both E&Y and later Grant Thornton, before becoming an entrepreneur, starting his own practice, Green Landers, with his business partner.
Along with his professional achievements, Ross served on a number of boards including the NS Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals and Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia as the past president.
Ross is survived by his children, Mark (Emily), Halifax; Craig (Trix), Toronto; Lorie Laybolt (Chris), Edmonton; brother Lewis (Elizabeth), Halifax; sisters Brenda Tibbetts, Digby; Deborah Landers (Margaret), Saint John; grandchildren, Sophie Landers, Halifax; Callum Landers, Halifax; Keira Laybolt, Edmonton; Kade Laybolt, Edmonton, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joyce and David.
Ross’s work ethic never allowed him to do things in half measures. When asked for help, either personally or professionally, he delivered beyond what could have reasonably been expected.
He was an avid car enthusiast. In later years, as his personal new car purchases moved from one or more a year to one every few years, he got his “fix” helping others to find their perfect car.
But most importantly, he loved nothing more than spending time with his children, grandchildren and was a proud ‘grandpaw’ to Cinder. He didn’t hesitate to brag about any and all of them whenever the opportunity presented…or whenever he could work it into the conversation.
A Celebration of Life and Visitation will be held Saturday February 8th from 10 until noon, with family remarks at 10:30, at JA Snow Funeral home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Clayton Park. A family committal service will be held in Digby at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to the IWK Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
