

BLAKLEY, Ruby A. – 90, moved from her home in Northwood Manor to Heaven on November 19, 2011. Born in Armdale, Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Percy Balcome and Gertrude Heisler (Balcome). When Ruby was young, she loved to speed skate on Chocolate Lake. She was an avid hockey fan, who loved Sidney Crosby. She and her husband Reg loved to take road trips to the United States each year and once went to England so she could see where Reg had spent 4 years overseas in the army during the war. She also enjoyed visits and outings with her family while living at Northwood Manor. Ruby loved to dress up even if she wasn’t going anywhere special. She and Roy used to attend Full Gospel Church in Halifax. She will be missed by her daughters Susan Blakley, Hammonds Plains, and Betty Johnson (Harlie), Bridgewater; granddaughter Erin Johnson-Moar (Brian), Surrey B.C. and great-grandsons Samuel and Nicolas Moar. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald S. (Reg) Blakley; sisters Vera Davidson, Dorothy (Dot) Blakey and brother Robert (Bob) Balcome. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531. Memorial service will be held in the Full Gospel Church, 806 Kearney Lake Rd., Bedford on Wednesday, November 30 at 11:30am with a luncheon following the service.
