

Born in Hackett’s Cove, NS, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruby (Boutilier) Colp and lived most of her life in Halifax.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked with her husband in later years in the family business, John Morris Concessions Ltd., affiliated with Bill Lynch Shows. She loved to garden at her home on Dingle Road and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ruth made friends everywhere she went. Her real passion in life was taking care of others and she will be missed deeply. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John A.; sons, John E. and Gregg (Cindy); daughter, Susan Powell (John), all of Halifax. She was beloved grandmother to Suzanne, John Paul, Allison, Michelle, Gregory; great grandchildren, Emma and Phenwick. She is also survived by sister, Lucy (Mrs. Aubrey Rhyno), Halifax; adopted daughter, Judy; sisters-in-law, Elaine Nixon, Grace Walker, Lorraine Baldwin and Anna Morris; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by beloved son, Michael; brother-in-law, Peter G. Morris, his wife Lola; as well as other relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1,2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM from J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, (902-455-0531) and from where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at 11AM. Private family burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Osteoporosis Society Canada, (301-1090 Don Mills Rd., Toronto, ON, M3C 3R6) or charity of choice.
