Surrounded by her family, Sadie Isabel Beazley (87) passed away peacefully at Melville Lodge, Halifax on Friday, December 1, 2023. Isabel was the daughter of the late Allan and Mary Margaret (Landry) MacPherson of Antigonish.
During the past two and a half years of residing at Melville Lodge, Isabel made many new friends. Isabel enjoyed knitting, sewing, and diamond painting in her spare time. She was a member of St. Catherine's and St. Agnes’s Parishes in Halifax. Her unwavering faith gave her strength and courage in dealing with whatever challenges life presented, as she prayed her rosary daily. A kind, caring, and giving person, Isabel always put the needs of family, friends, and neighbors before her own. Isabel volunteered at several charities, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Lung Association, and the Red Cross.
Isabel is survived by her daughter, Sharon Thurber (Avery), Middle Sackville and her sons, Ken Beazley (Kathy), Middle Sackville, Wayne Beazley (Deborah), Beaver Bank. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Agnes MacPherson, Hamilton, Ont., Margaret Benoit (James), Lower South River, and brothers Carroll MacPherson, Antigonish, Alfred MacPherson (Ann) Gravenhurst, Ont. She is also survived by grandchildren Craig Thurber (Ashley), Laura Thurber, Raymond Beazley (Breanna), Joseph Beazley, Hollyann Beazley (Max), Mitchell Beazley (Emma), and great-grandchildren Parker and Paxton Thurber, goddaughter Nancy DuPont, Quebec City, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Donald, 2002, as well as brothers, Harry MacPherson (Pearl) and Arthur MacPherson, and sisters, Christena "Tena" Macdonald (Eugene), Marie MacPherson, infant sister Mary Kate, and infant brother, Allister.
Isabel spent her final days surrounded by her family recalling stories and sharing memories.
Isabel's family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the genuine compassion, love and professional care provided by the staff and associates of Melville Lodge.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, Lower Sackville, with Fr. Yves Marchildon celebrating. Luncheon to follow in the church hall.
