To know Samir Anjoul was to know steady love, gentle wisdom, and a deep devotion to family. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he passed away on April 10, 2026, surrounded by faith and the love of his family.
Born in Hadchit, North Lebanon, on August 15, 1947, to parents Sarkis and Sobheya Anjoul, Sam was the fifth of twelve children. His early years laid the foundation for a life rooted in faith, devotion to family, and a gentle presence that brought comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
At the age of 17, while at work, a chance encounter with a customer’s daughter would forever change the course of his life. When he first laid eyes on Anna it was the true definition of love at first sight. This love would guide them through 56 years of marriage - a love that led them, with their two young children, to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1976 to begin a new life. It carried them through the joys and challenges of being small business owners, most recently at Anna’s Café, where Sam worked side by side with Anna, years they deeply cherished until their retirement in 2020. Their enduring love and dedication were passed down to their adored grandchildren, Ray and Madeleine, and remained evident until his final breath.
Sam is survived by his devoted wife, Anna; his son, Fadi (Mary), and grandson Samuel (Sydney, Australia); his daughter, Fadia; and his grandchildren, Ray (Ottawa, Ontario), Madeleineand her fiancée Fred Ghosn. He is also survived by his siblings in Australia and Lebanon. His beloved sister Hanni, and her husband Raymond Khater of Halifax, who were not just family, but best friends; his niece and nephew Angie and Johnny Anjoul, and their children - Bella, Maya, and Liam – all who were bright lights in his life.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Sabah (Tony Metlej), Therese (Jimmy Francis) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Jeannette (Richard Arab) of Calgary, Alberta; his brother-in-law Antoine (Zana) Francis of Diman, Lebanon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom brought a smile to his face.
He is also survived by his best friend, his shadow, and his loving companion, his dog Milo.
Visitation will be held under the care of J.A. Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4–8 p.m. A funeral celebration will take place at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 111 Clayton Park Drive, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, with Father Namatallah Eid presiding.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Halifax.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
