

Sharon Janet Quigley (nee Bugden), 85, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, after a long illness. Born July 30, 1939, Sharon was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Michael Patrick Quigley, on Valentine’s Day, 1958. Mike and Sharon were together for 66 wonderful years and raised six children. Sharon’s first priority was always her family, and yet she also found time to complete her university education, graduating from Mount St. Vincent University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts. Sharon was a representative for Nova Scotia in 1975’s International Woman’s Year, a life skills coach, and a gifted interior decorator. Once her children were safely out of the nest, Sharon embraced her life long love of dance, becoming a certified Ballroom Dance Instructor and establishing her own Dance Studio. In addition to her passion for dance, Sharon found great meaning in her volunteer work with Hope Cottage.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Michael, her children, Gerry, Karen (Ted Scanlon), Chris (Nadine Church), David (Shelley Quigley) and Michal (John Cochran), eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as her brothers, Velle and Derek Bugden. She was predeceased by her parents, H. Barry Bugden and Agnes Bugden and her son Bruce Quigley.
Visitation will be held at the J. A. Snow Funeral Home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Wednesday October 30, 2024 from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, October 31,2024 at Saint Benedict Parish at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Sharon will be remembered for her quick wit, her passion for life and her steadfast love for her family. Her life of compassion and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
