

Sheila Francis Landry, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, surrounded by her loving family. Sheila was born on December 3, 1947, in Knowsley, UK.
Sheila's life was marked by an unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Landry, who stood by her side throughout their journey. Sheila was a doting mother to her sons, Jason Landry and John Landry, and a loving mother-in-law to Cindy (Tufts) Landry and Christine (Peddle) Landry, respectively. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and they will forever cherish the warmth and kindness she showered upon them. Sheila is survived by her grandchildren: Katie (Tufts) Brown and her husband, Thomas, Ashton Landry, Matthew Landry, and Daniel Landry.
Sheila is also survived by her brothers, Jeffrey Young (Patricia), Colin Young (Sherri), and Ross Young (Jennifer), and their families.
In her work life, Sheila was a talented hairdresser, bringing out the beauty in others with her skilled hands and a smile that would brighten anyone's day. She later transitioned into a long and fulfilling career as a babysitter, sharing her love and care with countless families. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love enriched the lives of many children, leaving a lasting impact on their hearts.
In her free time, Sheila found joy in cooking and baking, creating delicious meals and treats that her family and friends eagerly looked forward to. She had a green thumb and took great care in tending to her plants, creating vibrant and flourishing gardens. Sheila enjoyed the challenge of jigsaw puzzles, piecing together beautiful images one piece at a time. Her greatest joy was found in worrying about her family, a testament to her boundless love and unwavering concern for those she held dear. Sheila also found immense pleasure in feeding the deer from her balcony, with the deer eagerly awaiting her arrival every day at 5 PM.
Sheila's life was a journey marked by compassion and strength, and her impact on those she met was immeasurable. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sheila was predeceased by her mother, Evelyn Maude Young (Collins), who hailed from London, UK, and her father, Louis (Paddy) Francis Young, originally from Dublin, Ireland.
A memorial service to celebrate Sheila's life will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax, on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
Sheila's memory will live on through the stories and love she shared with her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and enduring kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
