Age 89, Passed away peacefully at home on Jan 12th with her family by her side. She was born in Windsor N.S, the daughter of the late Fred and Mildred Campbell. Mom graduated from Edgehill School for Girls in 1953 and from the Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, where she continued to work until 1994. Upon retirement, Mom volunteered with the Extra Support for Parents Program, the IWK Auxiliary and the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. She was also an active member of The Bethany United Church as an elder and member of the U.C.W.
Mom curled and played tennis in her earlier years and attended many sporting events. She was an avid tennis fan and was able to cheer on her favorite player, Rafa Nadal, many times at the Rogers Cup. She enjoyed travelling south as well as biannual shopping trips to the eastern US.
Mom was always up for anything, a good sport! She was selfless, generous, caring and always a comfort and support to those around her. She was the best Nanny to her grandsons Andrew and Jordan and loved sharing in their accomplishments. She was a strong presence in their lives, they visited her often and always a smile on her face.
Mom is survived by her son Michael (Tracey), daughters Michele (Paula), Susan (Lillian deceased), grandsons Andrew (Emily) and Jordan, daughter-in law Nancy and brother Donnie (Sylvia deceased) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first husband James (Bud) Wallace and second husband James (Jim) Gray, Sister Gwen Weston, brothers George (Dell), Allan (Marion), Ralph (Joan), Ron (Helen),and Bert (Marg).
She cherished her lifelong friends Marge MacKenzie, Honey MacFarland and Joanie Reardon (deceased).
As kids we remember Mom bringing home patients on the weekends when their families were unable to travel to visit them. We even had parents of the children staying with us, therefore donations in her memory can be made to the Ronald MacDonald House or a charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Monday Jan 20th from 6-8pm and the Funeral on Tuesday Jan 21st at 10 am both at Snows Funeral Home Lacewood Drive
Thank you to family friend Val Shaffner for her constant love and support. Also, thanks to Coltina, the VON, Home Care, OT Pauline, Guardian Drug Store (Farnham Gate) and the Palliative Care Team (VG).
